Enquire about this carThis quite magnificent 6 cyl. MG NB was initially restored in the US, fully finished and bodied in Australia, and recently recomissioned here with a full engine o/haul. It behaves faultlessly. I have handled over a thousand pre-war MGs and I do consider this car to be one of the best I have ever had, a bold statement I know, but that statement tells you it has to be worth a viewing, especially if you have been considering a very powerful, comfortable, yet competitive touring car. A very rare combination. It has such easy door access, proper comfort with good luggage space and genuine elegance, (enhanced even further when the roof is erected): qualities not always associated with vintage MGs!
The car begun life as a standard 6 cyl., 2-seat 1272cc MG NB. After life in the UK it was exported to Texas where considerable restoration was undertaken. It then found its way to Western Australia where it was professionally rebodied with the original 'Cresta' body, and to the remarkably high standard it carries today. It found its way home in 2019, where it underwent further mechanical improvement but unfortunately has covered very little mileage since, due to Covid and ill health, but this accounts for its current immaculate condition. (Detailed history with invoices is readily available.)
The MG NB is the final culmination of the standard MG overhead camshaft models to come from the Abingdon factory, and this example still sports its original 1272cc, 80BHP engine and close ratio gearbox. The dashboard is stunning with all available additional gauges, together with a full windscreen, twin aeroscreens, bonnet belt, and superb Lucas 150 headlamps with MG crested bi-flex bars. New Alto horn, FT27 foglamp, quick release filler caps, original SF24 trafficators and Blockley tyres finish this magnificent car. It truly is a class above the average N type.
As we found the car, it had stood for 2 or 3 years , but under the magic wand of Oliver Richardson we have carried out a full recommisioning. The previous owner did not want such awesome power and removed the supercharger 'as one lump' , and put the car back on its carbs, while retaining the whole s/c installation, extractor manifold, HV8 carb and other upgrades. This is immediately available to the new owner should the buyer want to re-install it. Believe me when I say this is now offering real power, and if the supercharger is added back, you will have MG K3 power but without a hint of K3 replica pricing.
I would not now hesitate to use this on the any European tour, rally,. or just wonderful holidays. It has ease of access for your partner, superb roof, full sidescreens and tonneau cover. The huge adjustable leather bucket seats offer real comfort, while the large boot carries any tools and plenty of soft luggage. It really is the car so many of you ask for, and increible value at today's prices.
Do get to view this, and come for a test, it is a most imposing car, many times better than the photos suggest.
